Finlayson, has been noted by The New York Times as “an incisive and often surprising trumpeter” Since moving from his native Oakland, CA, to attend The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, he has been an active voice in the New York creative music scene. He gained invaluable knowledge and experience through his years of playing alongside the saxophonist and conceptualist Steve Coleman.
